Prof G. Damodar, who holds M.A. (English), M.Phil. and Ph.D. from
Kakatiya, PGCTE and PGDTE from EFLU, has to his credit fifty one
books (written and edited), seventy one papers (published, presented
and contributed), eight translations, ten reviews, sixty general
writings, thirty seven invited talks, lectures and forewords, some
poems and 500 haikus. He has so far guided 26 dissertations for
M.Phil. and Ph.D. and adjudicated more than a hundred theses and dissertations of
different universities. He has been guiding the students for M. Phil and Ph. D degrees
in contemporary literature on thrust areas like Indian Writing in English, English
Language Teaching, British Literature and American Literature. He has devised 23
innovative audio-visual teaching aids with CD ROMs during 2000-2010. He has
produced over a hundred radio lessons on Spoken English, English for Competitive
Examinations, etc., which were broadcast every Sunday over Warangal FM. Now they

English for Email, Errors in English Usage, Detection of Errors, English for Engineers
and Computer Professionals (by 21 Century Publications) New Millennium Graded
English Course (5 Readers, Workbooks and Teacher’s Manual with a CD (by Arkbird
Publishers), English for Empowerment (by Orient Blackswan with a CD), English Tracks
(by Macmillan with a CD), Communication Skills (by SDLCE, KU), Nurturing English (by
Lorven) and A Course in Listening and Speaking (Cambridge Foundation Book with a
CD) are prescribed as textbooks at different levels. As Chairman of Board of Studies,
KU, he revamped the undergraduate syllabus with a paradigm shift from the
traditional content-based syllabus to language fluency, employability and
communicative skills with a focus on learner-centeredness with practical lab tasks. He
has also revised the postgraduate syllabus conforming to the UGC pattern under CBCS.
He was the Coordinator, UGC, SAP (DRS I) Project on “Multi-culturalism in Indian
Literature,” for a year. He is a Life Member of Osmania Center for International
Studies (formerly known as ASRC), Indian Association for English Studies (IAES) and
Indian Association for Canadian Studies. He was on the Executive Committee of Indian
Association for English Studies (IAES) during 1999-2002. Currently, he is on the
Executive Committees of Indian Association for Canadian Studies and Indian
Association for Australian Studies.
In recognition of the valuable services rendered by the teachers of the Department,
Prof. G. Damodar was honoured by the Government of Andhra Pradesh with the Best
Teacher Award in 2010, the English Forum Award of Gujarat, Telugu Tejam Award in
New Delhi and Pothan Vigyanapeetham Award for 2017. He was shortlisted for Vice-

Chancellorship of three universities (Palamur, MGU and Ambedkar Open University) in
February 2011 and for two universities, Kakatiya and Palamur, in 2016. As a Member
on the Nomination Committee for Nobel Prize in Literature, he nominated and
proposed Stephen Gill of Canada in 2014 and Mahaswetha Devi of India in 2016 for the
internationally acclaimed Nobel Prize. He was the President of India’s (Visitor’s)
Nominee for Dr HS Central University, Sagar, Mandhya Pradesh, during 2015-2018.
He loves “simplifying the complicated things as a troubleshooter, an ever-learning
